In this workshop Hong Kong Scottish visual artist and director Florence To, questions the most deep rooted beliefs of the eurocentric culture and goes through the theoretical process of working in various modalities within embodied spaces, addressing the ideologies through the visual aesthetics in her work, which can add a new perspective in relation to the one world systems that are in place.
Florence To creates multisensory installations and generative motion graphics with a focus on architectural spatial design in site-specific projects. Working with disparate architectural environments, her process explores how various sensory arrangements are experienced within space. She uses information in relation to vibrations and the understanding of computational methods to visualize the process in her work, exploring the science behind light detection, generation and manipulation in physical materials.
She has been artist in residence at the Photonics group at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, The Spatialization and Auditory Display Environment in Limerick and has been supported by the European Network for Contemporary Audiovisual Creation (ENCAC).
In partnership with Factory Berlin.
